Maybe they really do like each other?

Test

Trying to blog from my phone.

Brotherly Love

We found the boys sleeping in the same bed a few nights ago. Awww, man, how sweet. Moments like this make me believe we are doing something right, and they might actually like each other! They have been sharing Dylan's bed each night since.

Dylan's 5th Birthday

Happy Birthday to the king of goofy pictures!
It's hard to believe Dylan is 5. The time has flown, he has changed so much, yet it seems like yesterday when Brian was assembling the crib and we were getting ready to have our first baby.

For his birthday, we went to the Mall of America for dinner and rides. Dylan chose McDonald's as his meal. Thankfully the food court offered alternatives for the adults! Oma, Uncle Matt, Auntie Kelly, Brody, Mommy and Daddy were all there to celebrate with Dylan. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal, and even enjoyed the rides.

Dylan isn't a fan of the fast rides, but he does enjoy the Ferris Wheel, and he tried bumper cars for the first time, and really loved it!

Saturday morning we met Papa Gordy and Vava at Choo Choo Bob's in St. Paul. It is a cool train store, but we discovered they only carry wooden railway stuff, so Dylan couldn't find anything to match his trains there.

We headed to lunch at Snuffy's Malt Shop, where Dylan ordered a chocolate soda. Wow, who'd have thought a "soda" came with ice cream and whipped topping?

After lunch, Papa Gordy made good on his promist to buy Dylan a train, and Dylan ended up picking out Knapford Station. He was one thrilled little 5 year old!

Saturday afternoon we wrapped up birthday mania by having Great Grandpa Wennerstrom, Great Great Aunt Nancy and Great Great Uncle Rich, Great Uncle Gregg and Great Uncle Wes over for cake and ice cream. Whew...lots of great's!

All in all, Dylan seemed very please with his birthday celebrations and is thrilled to be 5 now.

Valentine's Box

This was Dylan's first year that he had to bring a Valentine's box to school to exchange Valentine's. He decided on a train theme. I cut out a train for each side of his shoe box, along with the letters of his name. He glued them on, and I added a little picture of Dylan the Train Engineer.

Such a somber child...he enjoys NOT smiling for the camera these days. Silly.

Grandma and Papa's Visit

In early February, Grandma and Papa came to visit us. They arrived bearing birthday gifts for both boys. The boys LOVE their head lamps, and often wear them around the house just for the heck of it. We've gone on walks in the dark and they love to move their heads around and illuminate things.

While Grandma and Papa were here, we went to the St. Paul Winter Carnival Parade too! Since going back to work, I've definitely had a hard time adjusting, feeling organized and in general, in control of my life. I have one more example of how that's true: I uploaded my pics from the parade, renamed the file to something I thought was relevent, but now, I can't find where those pictures are filed!
Nonetheless, we had a good time at the parade. We weren't too cold and it was fun to get out of the house.

We were so glad Grandma and Papa could come visit us, and we look forward to seeing them again when we travel to Iowa for Haley's wedding in April!

Brody's 3rd Birthday

What do you do when you turn 3? You celebrate 3 times of course!
The first celebration was at Brody's request - Chuck E. Cheese. He loved every minute of that place!

The second celebration was on Brody's actual birthday. We went to the Mall of America where one can ride for free all day on their birthday in Nickelodeon Universe. The boys had a lot of fun. I even convinced Dylan to ride the Ferris Wheel - all four of us went together. I think they were both a bit aprehensive at first, but ended up loving it. Dylan really enjoyed seeing everything from "up there" and Brody called out "boo yah" at one point.

Brody's 3rd celebration was at a bowling alley, with Papa Gordy and Vava. The boys (and us adults too) played in a fun game room. We attempted to bowl, but the leagues had taken over every lane. Dylan was a bit disappointed, but Brody didn't seem to notice. He had turned his tickets in for prizes and was a happy camper.

It's hard to believe Brody is 3. The last few years seem like a blur. He is such a spirited little guy. He is the most of everything. The sweetest, cutest, happiest. funniest, meanest, toughest, roughest guy I know. Brody doesn't do anything with less than 100% enthusiasm.  We hope that will serve him well in life, though we're sure it will present challenges too.
