Fishing and Swimming

Saturday morning Gregg took Brian and the boys out on his boat to go fishing. The boys seemed to love it. They've been chattering about it a lot. Between the two boys they caught 18 fish!

It was another beautiful hot summer day today, so we decided to head to the sand bottom pool in Shakopee, where auntie Kelly lives. Kelly and her boyfriend Rik joined us at the pool and we had a nice BBQ afterwards.

We really like that pool. Nice water, no fish or weeds and not over chlorinated. It's big enough that we can throw a water ball around, but shallow enough that we feel comfortable letting the boys swim a lot too. The boys were really tired out and both fell asleep about two minutes in to our ride home. A truly fun family day!

Tonsillectomy

Brody had surgery this morning to remove his tonsils and adenoids. They were all rather large and were causing obstructive airway issues, especially while sleeping.
We arrived at Mpls Children's Hospital at 6am, ready for surgery.

Brody did pretty well with the nerves, until the anesthesiologist and surgeon both stopped in, and then he got a little nervous. The anesthesiologist ordered a little something for Brody's nerves. He was cracking us up.

In recovery, Brody ripped out his IV so he didn't get a full dose of pain medicine. He was brought back to us in history, crying out in agony. The Tylenol with codeine took a long and painful 30 minutes to soothe him. He took a two hour nap and the woke up a little more like his old self.

Now he's resting up at home, ensconced on the couch with his blankets and babies.

Back in the saddle again

Well it's been awhile hasn't it? I just figured out how to post a picture to my blog from my iPad. Who knew it would be such a big deal?

So let's see, where did I leave off? Ah yes, after Brody's birthday, we had another Happy Birthday in this house.

Dylan had pancakes with whipped cream, and for his big birthday gift he received a Nintendo 3DS. He was thrilled. It's hard to believe he is six years old already. He is really starting to act like a big boy and he asks about some very mature concepts. He's still mama's boy and I love that. I dread the day holding my hand is no longer second nature to him.

Then a month later it was my birthday. 33 now :)
We celebrated with a family pizza night and martini's for me!

Dylan's party with his friends was later that same week. We had delayed it a bit because we had so much going on. It was Star Wars themed. He had a ton of fun with his little friends.

Easter was here before we knew it. The usual cousin line up happened, but this year we overflowed the couch. So many happy little ones! The egg hunt was a resounding success too. We managed to get a family picture on Easter, and we were all smiling!

Mother's Day in May was nice. We spent the day with both Oma and Great Grandma Gen. Brody is such a little poser! My boys look so handsome all slicked up in their collared shirts.

Later in May we ran two 5k's. The first was the first annual Schell's Brewery Lager Lauf. It was a fun event! The next morning we did Get Your Rear In Gear. This race is in support of colon cancer, and we walked in honor of my uncle Karl.

At the end of May, the boys spent the day/evening with Papa Gordy and Vava, and Brian and I went to the Twins game with Kelly and Rik.

In June I had the huge pleasure of joining Angie and Jean on our annual Girls Weekend. We had a bit of an adventure getting to Angie's in Springfield, with bad weather and flight delays, but make it we did, and we spent a few wonderful days together.

For Father's Day weekend, Brian went to Milwaukee to meet a friend. I took my two cousins overnight and the four boys had a great time.

Later that weekend, Brian came home and we were able to spend time together as a family.

By now, we are enjoying summer. Dylan is going to the Summer Power program at a local elementary school, and Brody continues to go to his YMCA preschool program. Brody recently started Karate. He seems like a natural!

July brings us to our annual summer vacation in Galena at Grandma and Papa's cabin. The boys first spent five days there before we arrived, and then we were able to spend four more days there. It was really hot the entire time, but we had lots of fun anyway!

While we were there, papa had a birthday.

Lastly, we decided to go home by way of Rockford. It had just been too long since we had seen our friends there. We had a really nice lunch at Tracey's . I was so happy to see our friends, and was reminded of how many wonderful people we met and befriended while we were in Rockford.
