Wee!

Brian drove 100 miles round-trip after work tonight to pick up Dylan's new play cube. I bought it on E-bay, and was so excited for Dylan to play with it. When Brian opened the back door of the jeep Dylan seemed to know it was something for him. He was grunting and squealing like a little piggie as Brian pulled out the pieces.

As Dylan went down the slide he said "wee!"

Dylan got a little worried when Brian carried the cube into the backyard. He didn't let the cube out of his sight.

Not quite sure he's ready to call it a day...

Memorial Day Weekend

We've had a busy and very fun weekend. Saturday morning we went to a parade - Dylan's first parade! There were tons of fire trucks which Dylan seemed to like. I thought he might be scared of the loud noises, but it didn't seem to bother him. We went with our friends the Idstein's. Abby and Joey taught Dylan parade basics, such as waving at fire trucks:

Chasing after candy...

Petting friendly dogs:

And in general collecting as much loot as possible:

Dylan got to spend lots of quality time with both of his grandma's this weekend too. Oma (Grandma Wennerstrom), Aunt Kelly and Uncle Matt came for the weekend. Here is Dylan with Oma. He's such a little bugger - he wanted Oma this weekend more than me! I have to admit it was kind of a nice break, and also really funny to have him snub me when I wanted to hold him! Plus Oma loved every minute of it.
On Sunday we went for a drive to Galena. Dylan's Grandma and Grandpa Luther are building a log cabin in the Territories. They were there to check on the progress (and also to see Dylan!) and we enjoyed some time with them.

And finally...the most thrilling moment of the entire weekend was when Daddy filled Dylan's new sandbox with sand. Does life get any better?

Friday's at Home

Dylan's moved on to finding new methods to reach the piano. Last night he was standing in his toy bin, trying to throw a leg up on the bench. He's still too short to do this with any success.

Dylan also tried to help me with the vacuuming last night. We are expecting Oma, Kelly and Matt for the weekend, and had a lot of work to do!

Dylan and I love to spend Friday's at home together. Today was no exception! We started the morning with his 15 month check-up. Dylan is 31.5" tall and weighs 26lbs, 4 oz. He has been so active, he only gained 1.5 lbs from his 12 month check-up. We ran a few errands, and then had play time. Here he is.

And finally, while Dylan took his afternoon nap, I planted our flower pots and railing boxes. We're going with a purple and red theme this year..

Daredevil

For a child that cries on the swing at the playground, Dylan sure is a daredevil when it's under his own control. He loves to face backward in his rocking chair, stands up, and rocks it back and forth. Also, we caught him standing on one of his riding toys so he could reach the piano. The evidence is below:
We're also trying to use sippy cups less and less. Dylan knows exactly what to do, but finds a lot of joy in dumping his cup out. So for now we continue to use the sippy cup, and allow him to have VERY small amounts of liquid in his cup.

And finally for today, a funny picture of Dylan eating cucumbers that were marinating in vinegar water. He insisted on trying one, and to our surpise he not only liked it, but begged for more! He's making a funny face, but he kept eating!

Mother's Day 2007

Happy Mother's Day! Today has been a fun day for us. It actually started last night when I went on my Mother's Day shopping spree at Archiver's. Here I am with my receipt....I may have gone a little overboard, but hey, Mother's Day only comes once a year.

This morning Brian made breakfast (an artichoke fritatta, yummy), and after Dylan's morning nap we headed to the Klehm Arboretum in Rockford. The morning started out rainy and a bit gloomy, but the sun came out while we were driving to the Arboretum, and we were able to enjoy a nice stroll through the gardens. We followed the path to the Children's Garden, where Dylan was surprised to find a cow.

Now we're home and enjoying the weather. Brian is going to fire up the grill and make us a nice salmon dinner. Here is a photo of the boys. Like father, like son. Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

Welcome!

I decided to start a blog. Now our friends and family can check in here occasionally for new pictures and updates on what we have been doing.

We are looking forward to a busy summer with visits to and from family as well as friends. Brian has just returned from another business trip. He has been traveling quite a bit lately. We hope he stays home for awhile, we miss him!

Last weekend we visited Cedar Rapids. We hadn't been since Christmas, so it was time for a visit. We were worried the family might not recognize Dylan with all the growing he's been doing. We had a great visit. Dylan really enjoyed the soft rug at Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Luther's. He rolled around on it like a cat! Brian and I went to a movie Saturday night while Grandma and Grandpa babysat the little tyke. He's a handful, but they tag-team him quite well.

We recently purchased a Burley bike trailer for Dylan. We've been using it a lot and Dylan seems to enjoy it. He especially loves to wear his helmet, whether he's in the bike trailer or not.
