Emergency Room Visit

First I’ll say that everyone is okay...

We had the boys’ pictures taken this morning. Our primary goal was to get Dylan’s 2-year pictures taken, and I thought it would be a bonus if I could get the boys together as well, and start a tradition of taking their pictures every year near their birthdays.

WELL...Dylan’s pictures went well. When it came time to get the boys together, Dylan had just about had enough and he was rather squirrely. He ended up slipping on the white background cloth, and hitting his head pretty hard on the floor of the studio. He took a deep breath, and I kept expecting his wail, but it never came. He just never breathed, and ended up going limp and his eyes looked a bit funny, then his whole body shuddered. Then he seemed to become aware again, but was still acting funny and I thought for a minute he was choking, because I had given him a fruit snack shortly before he fell. Within a minute (but it felt like an eternity) he was crying normally, and just wanted to be held, but it was very scary. When he didn’t breathe, and went limp, I thought he might be having a seizure or something. Very scary.

We got home and I called our pediatrician, who takes calls 24/7. He wanted us to take Dylan in to the ER just to get checked out, since he did seem to lose consciousness briefly. Thankfully Dylan checked out okay, but they did say he may have a slight concussion. I can only hope all of our ER visits turn out this way (and I’m sure there will be more in our future with these boys!).

A jeep isn't big enough??

Today, another first - my first shopping trip with the boys. Also my first day of being the official Jeep driver. Yes, that’s right, Brian has kindly agreed with me that the Camry isn’t big enough for two boys, two car seats, and a double stroller. The stroller does fit in the Jeep, with a little room leftover, but Dylan’s feet rest on the shoulders of the passenger seat, so I had to move it forward. Not sure how a passenger would ride up there, they would have to be the vertically challenged sort of person.

So off we went to the store. I did buy quite a few large items, such as cat litter, laundry detergent, diapers. I intended to go to the mall to look for Easter outfits for the boys, so I left the space behind the stroller in the back open, so I could get the stroller out at the mall. I loaded up the space under the boys’ seats, and in between them. Take a look at this spectacle (and I don’t mean Dylan crying):

Could it be that a mini-van is in our future? At this rate, if we bring along the stroller, I’m not sure how we’ll have room for clothes or anything else when we travel to see our families!

Do you know the muffin man?

I do! He’s a cute little boy named Dylan.

Speaking of the muffin man, did he live on Blueberry Lane, or Drury Lane when you were growing up? I swear we used to sing that he lived on Blueberry Lane, but sometimes I hear people sing “Drury Lane.” Hmmmm. Then again, apparently everyone else in the world played “Duck, Duck, Goose” and NOT “Duck, Duck, Grey Duck”. Maybe we’re just special up there in Minnesota! :)

Dylan and I made muffins together today after our shopping trip. This was my attempt to keep him from causing havoc around the house. It lasted ten minutes, but hey, ten less minutes of wanting to yell at him. SIGH. At least he’s cute. That’s his saving grace right now...

Snow Day

Dylan spent part of the day yesterday at daycare. Turns out it was a really snowy day, as Dylan was the ONLY child who showed up for daycare! He really enjoyed being the center of attention. Noelle bundled Dylan and her two kids up, and then went outside to play for awhile. Here are a few pictures Noelle sent us:
